FHC Ruling: PDP Dismisses Panic, Says Party Structure Remains Intact

Ola ‘Kiya,  Reporting

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has played down concerns arising from the judgment of the Federal High Court (FHC), Ibadan, delivered on Thursday, insisting that there is no cause for alarm and that the party remains legally stable.

In a reaction signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the party explained that the court declined to grant the order of mandamus sought, on the grounds that such a decision would, in its view, amount to sitting on appeal over judgments of courts of coordinate jurisdiction.

Ememobong said the party has already briefed its legal team to immediately file an appeal against the judgment and to pursue all necessary legal steps to advance its position and protect its interests.

He stressed that, despite the ruling, the Kabiru Turaki–led PDP, which emerged from the Ibadan Convention, remains legally intact and unshaken, pending an authoritative pronouncement by the appellate courts.

The party leadership further urged members across the country to remain calm, resolute and committed, assuring them that the development does not in any way undermine the ongoing reform agenda within the party.

According to the statement, the PDP’s “REBIRTH” movement remains firmly on course, with the leadership confident that the issues raised will ultimately be resolved through the judicial process.
