JUST IN: Former Nigerian Minister, Governor Wanted Over Alleged $14.8m Fraud


THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria has declared a former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, wanted.

The anti-graft agency is seeking the 61-year-old former governor of Bayelsa State in connection with an alleged case of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of funds amounting to $14,859,257.

According to a public notice issued by the EFCC, the funds were part of an injection by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited, intended for the construction of a refinery.

The notice states that the declaration is pursuant to a warrant issued by the Lagos State High Court on 6 November 2025. Sylva, who is from the Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has not been located for questioning.

The EFCC has urged members of the public with any information on his whereabouts to contact any of its offices across the country, including those in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt.
