According to a press release (Ref No. CZ.5300/FPRD/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.6/439) signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Muhammed was extradited to face charges of Obtaining Money by False Pretence, Forgery, and Money Laundering.

The case dates back to July 2023, when an international businessman based in Abuja lodged a complaint. Muhammed allegedly posed as a shipping agent and secured a contract to ship ten luxury vehicles valued at $307,500 from the UAE to Nigeria. He reportedly received the payment via a third-party FCMB account belonging to a Kano resident, Anas Usaini, and channelled the funds into money laundering operations in Dubai.

“Muhammed issued the complainant a forged bill of lading and subsequently became unreachable,” the police statement explained.

The suspect was arrested in Dubai on 15 April 2025 following a Red Notice issued by INTERPOL NCB Abuja. His return to Nigeria is regarded as a major breakthrough in the crackdown on cross-border economic crimes.

“The Nigeria Police Force appreciates the Dubai Police, INTERPOL NCB Abu Dhabi, and the Nigerian Consulate General in Dubai for their critical roles in this extradition,” ACP Adejobi said.
