A pregnant woman has tragically died after a cow broke loose and charged at mourners during a burial ceremony in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, according to reports reaching Stonix News.
The animal reportedly went berserk without warning, sparking panic among guests gathered for the funeral.
In the chaos, the expectant mother attempted to flee but fell down as scores of attendees scrambled in different directions to escape the rampaging beast.
Witnesses described scenes of confusion, with the sudden stampede-like reaction leaving several people injured. The cow, believed to have slipped its rope, caused sheer terror before calm was eventually restored.
A friend of the deceased, Chinazor Peace Anyadiegwu, confirmed the tragedy in a social media post. She revealed that the victim had been seen earlier that day visiting a local shop, leaving those who knew her stunned by the suddenness of her death.
“We saw her just hours ago, and now she is gone,” Anyadiegwu wrote, mourning the untimely loss. She extended heartfelt sympathies to the grieving family, particularly the children the deceased has left behind.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by the Anambra State Police Command or local authorities regarding the incident.
