Late Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, A ‘Principled Oracle’ – PDP

THE Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has voiced its profound sadness at the passing of former Senator Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi, the ex-representative for Delta North Senatorial District, who died on Friday, 19 December 2025.

In a press release signed by Dr. Michael Tidi, Secretary of the State Caretaker Committee, the party extended its heartfelt condolences to the Nwaoboshi family, the Ibusa community in Oshimili North Local Government Area, his constituents, and the government and people of Delta State.

The PDP characterised Senator Nwaoboshi as a statesman whose life was marked by courage, dedication, and unshakeable principle.

Quoting the Roman poet Horace—“Non omnis moriar” (I shall not wholly die)—the party stated that the late senator’s legacy would endure in Delta State and Nigerian politics.

He was described as a principled leader, a loyal party man, and an administrator of the highest calibre, whose contributions to governance and party affairs were lasting.

The party prayed for divine comfort for his family and for his soul to rest in eternal peace, labelling him an “Oracle” whose influence would be remembered.

“Good night, Oracle. May your resourceful soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement read.

A Life in Public Service

Senator Nwaoboshi’s career in public service began in 1979 as an aide to the then Military Governor of Bendel State, Brigadier-General Samuel Ogbemudia.

After reading for his LL.B and LL.M degrees, he built a distinguished career spanning governance, administration, and party leadership.

His roles included Political Adviser to Governor James Ibori, Commissioner for Agriculture and Special Duties, and Chairman of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.

As Chairman of the PDP in Delta State, he was credited with implementing major reforms, strengthening internal discipline, and overseeing the building of the party’s state secretariat.

Elected as Senator for Delta North in 2015, Nwaoboshi served two terms until 2023.

During his tenure, he was a prominent member of key committees, most notably the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, where he was a steadfast advocate for the region’s development and equitable policies.
