Trump Shares Image of Detained, Blindfolded Venezuelan President

FORMER United States President Donald Trump has posted a photograph purporting to show Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in custody aboard a US naval vessel.

In a post shared on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, Trump identified the image as showing Maduro “on board the USS Iwo Jima”, claiming the Venezuelan leader had been captured by US forces earlier the same day.

The photograph shows a man alleged to be Maduro wearing handcuffs and a blindfold, with what appear to be noise-cancelling earmuffs.

He is also dressed in grey Nike-branded sweatpants and a matching jacket.

Trump did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the alleged arrest or the operation that led to Maduro’s detention.

There has been no immediate independent confirmation from US authorities or the Venezuelan government regarding the authenticity of the image or the claims made by the former president.
