THE Pentecostal Bishops Association, Anambra State (PBAAS) has appealed to Bola Tinubu to release the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, from detention, stating that such a move would help quell unrest in the South-East region.
The appeal was contained in a communiqué issued by the Association’s Executive President, Bishop Prince Nwodika, at the end of its 2026 Annual Convocation held at Church in Power International, Awka.

Bishop Nwodika maintained that Kanu’s continued incarceration was fuelling agitations across the South-East and called on the President to act in the interest of national peace and reconciliation.
The communiqué read in part: “We are passionately pleading with President Tinubu to use his good office to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally.
“Correct the imbalances in the polity which have aggravated agitations from the region, in the spirit of equity, fairness and socio-economic balance in the system.
“These measures will significantly improve the much-needed peace and security in the South-East region.”
The bishops also congratulated Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election for a second term as Governor of Anambra State and prayed that God would grant Nigeria’s political leaders the wisdom to govern effectively and develop genuine compassion for the populace.
They further urged churches to remain steadfast in faith, encouraging Christians to continue being a shining light amid the challenges confronting Christianity globally.
