Did You Fail Once, Twice, Thrice Or More, Try Again!

I was an undergraduate at the University of Ibadan when this incident happened.

University of Ibadan main gate

There was this lady who was a member of my fellowship; I used to visit her and I knew all her roommates. They were all in 100 Level then.

At the end of the session, my lady was ‘tsunamised’; she was sent out of the university due to low academic performance. Later, I got to know that one of her roommates suffered the same fate; she was sent out of the University too. They were in the same department.

It was quite painful.

Two sessions after, I met the roommate of my lady at the main gate of the University. I was happy to see her again. I asked her some questions and her response amazed me.

She came back to the University of Ibadan, not to continue where she stopped but to start all over.

She obtained another UTME form. She filled another course; sat the exam and passed. She was invited for Post UTME; she passed and was offered admission again.

So, this young lady came back to the University of Ibadan to start all over.

Her previous course mates were in 300 Level when she came back to 100 level. Yes, she came back to study another course but SHE CAME BACK.

She was not too ashamed to start all over again.

Yes, she fell but she rose again. She was not defeated.

She didn’t give up.

Dear young person, failure is part of life; you will experience it at one point or the other. It is not the end of life. When you fail, try again.

That you failed once, twice, thrice or more does not mean you are a failure. It is only an indication that you should put in more effort.
