Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting
Authorities of the Federal University of Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, have banned Sunday worship services among Christian churches and fellowships on campus.
Stonix News reports that President Muhammadu Buhari hails from Katsina State which has been embroiled in ferocious attacks from bandits and terrorists with both human, animal and property casualties in their wake.
The ban was made known in an internal memo dated February 8, 2022, signed by the Director of Security Services, CSP Abdu Salisu, and sighted online by Stonix News.
The memo depicted Sundays as “General Day,” and, therefore, embargoed church services among Christian fellowships on the campus the said days.
Salisu said church services have been slated by the school authorities for Tuesdays and Thursdays for one hour between 6:00p.m and 7:00p.m with no reason projected for the decision.
The statement, which copies were made available to all campus fellowships, warned the Christian gatherings to adhere strictly to the new days of Church services.
Stonix News reports that the institution being a federal institution is expected to uphold the spirit and tenet of the secularity of the Nigerian state as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
