A survivor of the recent boat accident, Nollywood actor and director, Tochukwu Okafor, popularly known as TC Virus, has narrated how he survived the boat mishap that claimed Nollywood actor, Junior Pope.
TC revealed that he performed a ritual to honor the water spirits before boarding the boat that tragically claimed the lives of the renowned actor and three others.

He disclosed this during an Instagram live session on Thursday, where he shared that he, along with Junior Pope and their colleagues, were present on the boat.
The actor narrated how he poured a carbonated drink into the river before the journey commenced, explaining that this gesture was to show respect to the water spirits and ward off any potential misfortunes.
Moreover, TC expressed his belief that the accident could have been averted if the boat driver had possessed sufficient experience to prevent the collision with another vessel.
He said, before entering the boat, I carried my…Junior Pope asked me wetin you dey do, I tell ham say I dey observe water people o. I no dey fit pass without sharing something them. I don give them Fanta abeg I don’t want any bad thing to happen to me. I no like water at all.”
“They were making videos and I told them, make everybody put their phone for pocket oo. The driver was on earpiece, I think he was listening to music or saw when we saw a fisherman canoe approaching. I tell am say see canoe. That guy if he get experience, he for just tilt the boat but he no get the experience.
“The boat hit the canoe and that was how the speedboat somersaulted but because I was holding onto the anchor of the boat, that was how I survived,” he narrated.

He added that only two persons in the boat were wearing a life jacket including the director.
