Kwara State Reduces Workdays Per Week

Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

FOLLOWING the removal of fuel subsidy and its attendant effects, the Kwara State government has approved the reduction of workdays from five to three days per week.

The move is part of the temporary palliative measure to bring some ease to workers in the state over the removal of petrol subsidy.

The state’s Head of Service (HoS), Mrs Susan Modupe Oluwole, made the announcement on Monday in a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Murtala Atoyebi.

She said the State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has directed that the workdays be reduced from five days to three days per week for every worker.

Mrs Oluwole directed all Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state to immediately work out a format indicating the alternating work days for each worker under them.

The HoS, however, warned the workers not to abuse the magnanimity of the governor, stressing that the regular monitoring of MDAs by her office would be intensified to ensure strict compliance.
