In a bid to enhance combat medical readiness among its frontline units, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the School of Medical Sciences and Aviation Medicine (NAFSMSAM), has conducted a specialised Emergency Life Responders Training for personnel of the 413 Force Protection Group (FPG) in Kaduna.

The one-day intensive training, held on 25 July 2025 at the Air Mobile First Aid Unit (AMFAU), Kaduna, is part of ongoing efforts directed by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, to equip operational troops with essential life-saving skills for deployment in high-risk and austere environments.

The session combined theoretical lessons with practical demonstrations, focusing on critical medical interventions in combat situations.

Trainees received hands-on experience in airway management and bleeding control, including techniques such as the use of tourniquets, wound packing, head tilt-chin lift, jaw thrust, and insertion of nasopharyngeal airways—all designed to improve emergency response and survivability on the battlefield.

Commandant of the 413 FPG, Air Commodore Rilwan Abdullahi, also participated in the exercises alongside his personnel, underscoring the strategic importance of medical preparedness in military operations.

The initiative reflects NAF’s continued commitment to the safety and resilience of its troops through consistent training and capacity building.
