AMERICAN Neurotechnology company, Neuralink, has developed a device known as Blindsight that would enable the blind see, again.
Stonix News reports that Neuralink was founded by Elon Musk and a team of seven scientists and engineers such as Max Hodak, Benjamin Rapoport, Dongjin Seo, Paul Merolla, Philip Sabes, Tim Gardner, Tim Hanson, and Vanessa Tolosa).
Elon Musk broke the news of this technology in a post shared on his verified X page.
According to the post, the Blindsight device will enable even those that have been blind from birth to see provided the visual cortex is intact.
Musk added that the device has the potential to aid vision better than natural vision and it will enable one to see in infrared, ultraviolet or even radar wavelengths, like Geordi La Forge.
“The Blindsight device from Neuralink will enable even those who have lost both eyes and their optic nerve to see.
“Provided the visual cortex is intact, it will even enable those who have been blind from birth to see for the first time.
“To set expectations correctly, the vision will be at first be low resolution, like Atari graphics, but eventually it has the potential to be better than natural vision and enable you to see in infrared, ultraviolet or even radar wavelengths, like Geordi La Forge,” the post read.
