The newly elected National Treasurer of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) worldwide, Chief Mulade Sheriff PhD, has extended heartfelt gratitude to key stakeholders following his decisive victory in the INC’s national elections held on April 13, 2026.
In a statement released to Stonix News, the respected environmentalist and peace advocate, who also holds the traditional title of Ibe-Serimowei of the oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom, described his emergence as a collective mandate rather than a personal triumph.
Dr. Mulade specifically thanked the outgoing INC President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba; the National Executive Council (NEC); the 2026 National Electoral Commission, chaired by His Royal Majesty, Justice F.F. Tabai (Rtd); as well as national delegates and the entire Ijaw Nation for the confidence reposed in him.
“I am deeply honoured by this mandate and remain committed to upholding the highest standards of accountability in the discharge of my duties,” Mulade said, adding that the trust placed in him serves as a call to greater responsibility and service.
The newly elected treasurer pledged to work collaboratively with other members of the executive council led by High Chief Macdonald Igbadiwei Esq., alongside critical stakeholders, to ensure transparency, accountability, and prudent financial management within the congress.
He further assured that he would contribute his best efforts toward strengthening the INC and advancing the unity, progress, and overall development of the Ijaw Nation.
Dr. Mulade also reaffirmed his readiness to support initiatives aimed at repositioning the congress, enhancing its role in promoting the socio-cultural and political aspirations of the Ijaw people.
In a notable departure from tradition, he declared that the INC would move beyond its conventional socio-cultural status to become a productive platform with a special focus on establishing tangible business opportunities. These include the creation and launch of INC farms, a fishing port, and corporate and administrative employment opportunities.
“This will be achieved through constructive engagement with all multinational companies operating within Ijawland,” Mulade added, signalling a new, pragmatic direction for the organisation.
