The Minister, Hannatu Musa Musawa, Esq., disclosed this while addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday. She said the festival, jointly organised with Irabor Creative Minds, aims to celebrate Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and exceptional creativity.
According to Musawa, the Nigerian Foods and Culture Festival underscores the government’s commitment to harnessing the potential of arts, culture and tourism for economic development, job creation and national cohesion.
“Detty December is a popular cultural celebration originating from Lagos, and the Federal Government will provide all the necessary support to ensure a safe, vibrant, and culturally enriching experience for the international community and lovers of culture and creativity,” she stated.
The Minister also noted that Lagos was selected as the host city due to its status as a centre of cultural and creative excellence.
“This will be a bigger Detty December, and we anticipate a future where the Nigerian Foods and Culture Festival becomes a premier cultural attraction, drawing visitors from across the globe to experience the richness of Nigerian culture,” she added.
Musawa expressed appreciation to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his visionary leadership and consistent support for the arts and culture sector. She further acknowledged the contributions of the Ministry’s partners and sponsors, encouraging Nigerians to participate fully in the festival.
The Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Irabor Creative Minds, Jude Irabor Uwagbai, gave assurances regarding safety, stating that the organisers are working closely with Lagos State’s Lion Building Police Division to ensure a secure and enjoyable festival.
“We are inviting the world to Lagos, Nigeria, to come and experience our culture,” he concluded.
