Floods of blessings have heralded the 73rd Annual Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at Redemption City, Kilometre 46, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, Nigeria.
Themed “The Overcomers”, with a scriptural reference from 1 John 4:4, the convention proper was preceded by the Ministers’ Conference, which held from Thursday, July 31, through Sunday, August 3.
The final session, which took place on Sunday night, saw the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, lead the multitude of ministers in attendance in singing “Showers of Blessings” around 10:00 p.m.

Afterward, he urged the ministers to spend 10 minutes praising God, as commanded in Psalm 47:1: “Clap your hands, all you people; shout to God with the voice of triumph.”
Not long after, the heavens opened, and heavy rain began to pour in torrents. What began as a drizzle on Sunday night persisted into Monday morning with unrelenting intensity.

Referring to the showers of rain during the Monday night session, Pastor Adeboye affirmed that it was a sign that even before supplications and prayers were made, answers were already on their way.
As if nature itself had responded to the call for showers, by Tuesday morning—the second day of the convention proper—floodwaters had taken over parts of the road connecting Estates 11, 14, and 15, in a magnitude never before experienced.
Several worshippers lodged in the estates could only reach the auditorium for the ordination of deacons, deaconesses, and assistant pastors by boarding lorries.

Stubborn vehicle owners had their cars trapped on the flooded roads leading to Estates 14 and 15.
As of the time of filing this report, the floodwaters had yet to subside.
