SUSPENDED Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has called on residents to remain calm and law-abiding as political tensions in the state persist.
In a press statement on Wednesday, Governor Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to upholding constitutional order despite the ongoing political crisis.
“Since assuming office as your Governor, all my actions and decisions have been guided by my constitutional oath of office and a great sense of duty,” he stated.
The Governor highlighted steps taken to restore stability, including implementing the peace terms brokered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and complying with the Supreme Court’s ruling.
“These steps were taken not for personal gains but to foster peace, unity, and stability in our dear State,” he explained.
However, he accused the Rivers State House of Assembly of obstructing reconciliation efforts.
“Unfortunately, at every turn, members of the Rivers State House of Assembly frustrated our efforts, thus making genuine peace and progress difficult,” Fubara lamented.
Despite the political crisis, the Governor assured residents that governance had not been disrupted.
“Good governance had continued, salaries have been paid, and great projects were being executed to move the State forward.
Above all, Rivers State is safe, secure, and peaceful under our watch,” he declared.
Fubara urged the people of Rivers State to remain resilient and place their faith in democracy.
“We will face this situation with wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith in the democratic process,” he concluded.
As the state grapples with political uncertainty, all eyes remain on how the situation will unfold in the coming days.
