CLAIM

On May 20th, an X user with the handle, @RealQueenBee posted a video of men torturing some blindfolded young people with fire and the captioned it: “You cannot look away if you have humanity in you. Terrorists torturing the student they kidnapped in Ogbomosho Oyo State.

“Where’s Soyinka, Adeboye, other Yoruba Elders and Influencers? I hope they’ve not lost their Humanity?”

The posts garnered over 74k views, likes, shares and comments.

Replying to the post, @obayzy stated: “And our leaders ‘so called’ are going all out 2027. This could be any of us.

Another comment by @artdialog66098 read thus: “We are too divided to know what to do. It’s a huge price to pay when your tribesman is power and u dont want to jeopardise his 2nd term ambition. It’s unfortunate.”

One @Mobolalyi also commented: “While it’s commendable to condemn acts of terror unleashed on our dear country by the culpability of our failed leaders, we must do so with cleans hands and intention, not by referencing incorrect and faulty evidence. This video is not from the Oyo kidnapping. Let’s be guided pls.”

The post was also shared by another X user, @Safari465 with the caption: “Another X user, @Safari465 tweeted the video on May 19th wth the caption: “Bandits torturing student they kidnapped in Ogbomosho Oyo state.

“Is it a crime to be a Nigerian?. We all kept quite as if everything is normally. A time is coming everyone will carry sword and demand justice from this government. I’m speechless”

Also, on May 21st another X user, @AfrikanBanter shared the same video with the tweet: “Ogbomosho(Oyo State) students being tortured by terrorist kidnappers. This is unacceptably disturbing and these beasts need to be stopped and locked up forever. This Tinubu administration is a catastrophic, incompetent mess.

“TINUBU MUST RESIGN
But his ego won’t allow him. Instead he will continue to run Nigeria into the ground.”

VERIFICATION

Checks on the video with InVID verification tool revealed that the video was first posted on April 29, 2026 by various X users with several claims. One user, @Goziedragon007 claimed that the video was of Muslims torturing christians in Northern Nigeria. @Goziedragon007’s posts garnered over 115k views.

Another X user with the handle @boujtou_khaoula shared the same video with the narrative that members of the defense security in Burkina Faso were torturing young Peuls (Fulani people) who were wrongly accused of terrorism. The tweet was shared in French and it was posted on May 19, 2026.

VERDICT

The claim that the video was that of kidnappers torturing kidnapped Ogbomosho students in Oyo State is false.
