PASSENGERS flying Spirit Airlines will need to dress decently and cover up tattoos or risk being denied boarding.
On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the airline updated its contract of carriage, stating that passengers who are “barefoot or inadequately clothed” or have clothing or body art that is “lewd, obscene, or offensive” will not be allowed to board or may be asked to leave the aircraft.
The updated policy defines “inadequately clothed” as wearing see-through clothing, not covering private parts, or exposing breasts, buttocks, or other private areas.
Fashion choices have long been a contentious issue for air travelers, with many being denied boarding or going viral for their experiences.
Spirit Airlines previously banned barefoot passengers and clothing deemed “lewd, obscene, or offensive,” but has now provided further clarification in its updated contract.
In October, a woman named Tara Kehidi claimed she and a friend were asked to leave a Spirit flight for wearing crop tops.
Similar incidents have occurred on other airlines, including American Airlines, which apologized to Latisha “Tisha” Rowe in 2019 after she was humiliated and told to cover up her strapless romper.
