Suspected terrorists have stormed Tsafe town, headquarters of Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing the son of the state Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, DIG Mamman Tsafe and three others.
Stonix News gathered that the attack occurred on Sunday night when the gunmen, who were said to be clad in military uniform, invaded Shiyar Namada area of the town.
Residents fell for the marauders’decoy as they mistook them for genuine Nigerian military personnel on a routine patrol.
As a result, the terrorists were able to operate freely unhindered, causing havoc before the residents could realise it.
In the meantime, the commissioner’s son was said to be sitting in the front their house during the break of fast with others when the gunmen suddenly emerged and opened fire killing them on the spot.
“During the attack most people observing Tarawih prayer in several mosques around the area and residents had to flee to safety.
“I’m talking to you this morning. I’m at the Waziri’s residence where preparations for their funeral are underway,” a source who witnessed the dastardly act disclosed on Monday morning.
A section of the people, however, suspected the attack to be a reprisal over the decapitation of a suspected bandit identified as Yan Sakai last Friday.
No official statement has emerged from security agencies in the local government.
Stonix News reports that in recent times, Tsafe town and surrounding communities have witnessed series of assaults and kidnappings.
