Update: Asaba Building Collapse: Only Three Persons Died – Police

Rita Enemuru, Reporting

The Delta Police Command, on Wednesday, says only three persons have died in the building that collapsed on Tuesday evening at Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The deceased are two female children and a woman whose names were not disclosed.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, in a WhatsApp statement on Wednesday morning made available to Stonix News debunked reports that 10 persons died in the tragedy.

He, however, added that 18 persons were rescued, four persons discharged from hospital and 11 victims still receiving treatment in hospital.

“Three person’s have died so far. Rescue Operation is over; 18 persons rescued initially; four person’s discharged, 11 persons still receiving treatment.

“Three deaths recorded which include two female children and one woman, their names unknown for now.

“Kindly debunk the rumours making rounds that 10 people died, that’s not correct,” he noted.

Stonix News had reported that scores were trapped in the rubble occasioned by the partly collapse of a building harbouring Salvation Ministries during Tuesday evening service.
