2023: With Buhari Backing Tinubu, Atiku Can’t Win – Oshiomhole

Rita Enemuru, Reporting

FORMER governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, says with President Muhammadu Buhari, being the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), backing Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Atiku can’t win the 2023 presidential election.

He described the president’s support for the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Tinubu as a ‘huge electoral asset.’

Oshiomhole was speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, monitored by Stonix News in Warri, Delta State.

Referencing the recent political crisis bedevilling the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Adams said it would be difficult for Atiku to win the presidency.

“Buhari said in one of his statements that he, as a member and leader of the APC, is going to support, campaign and invite those who believe in him to support APC.

“He will support the party from the presidency, House of Reps, Senate and governorship.

“President Buhari’s voice on the side of Asiwaju is a huge electoral asset.

“Atiku Abubakar can’t dispute the fact that where Buhari stands electorally, he can’t win.

“He is even having challenges not only in Rivers, but also in Delta and these are things you need to talk about.

“Majority of Nigerians are going to be interested in those that will impact positively on the quality of live,” he said.

Speaking on the Muslim-Muslim ticket in APC, Oshiomhole said that religion shouldn’t be an issue for discussion, but the hope and expectations of Nigerians come 2023.

He said; “I am a Christian and I am not because I’m from the South, but because I believe in Christianity.

“We need to advance our democracy; we need to challenge our leaders with issues.

“One of the escape routes that political leaders have always resorted toed, is to be concerned with irrelevant issues which is very unfortunate.

“Religion is not the issue for the purpose of this discourse, I think we will do well if we interrogate all the candidates on what they will do in critical areas that will make Nigeria work for the good of all.”

Waxing philosophical, he averred further: “This election is about tomorrow and not about yesterday. It’s about the next four years.

“What people want to vote for come February next year is those things that will make a difference in their quality of life.”
