Hertfordshire University, as it was gathered, is one of the cheapest in the UK with its tuition said to be less than £10,000 per year for home students and about £14,000 for international students.

Its affordability makes it a highly sought-after institution for many Nigerians seeking to study abroad.

According to the 2022 Guardian University Guide, the institution is ranked 90 among universities in the UK with Oxford University taking the first spot.

The institution was formerly known as Hatfield Polytechnic. In 1992, it was granted university status by the British government and subsequently renamed the University of Hertfordshire.

Stonix News reports that the number of Nigerian youths seeking admission to the UK varsities has continued to soar due to the downward trend of the quality of university education in Nigeria.

For instance, for eight months out of the 12 months available in 2022, lecturers under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) grounded the Federal Government-owned universities over refusal of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to honour the agreement it had reached with the lecturers.
