Professor Olajumoke Morenikeji Appointed Vice-Chancellor Of KolaDaisi University

IBADANKolaDaisi University, Ibadan, has announced the appointment of Professor Olajumoke Morenikeji as its new Vice-Chancellor, effective 3 August 2026.

The appointment, approved by the Board of Trustees in line with the KolaDaisi University Law 2016, follows the formal conclusion of the recruitment process. Professor Morenikeji, who currently serves as the institution’s pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor, will take over the leadership of the university in a transition period beginning this summer.

According to a special release signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Haruna Olawale Adetu, and sighted by Stonix News on Wednesday, the Governing Council at its 33rd statutory meeting held on 30 April 2026 deliberated on the Board’s approval and congratulated the university community on the development.

Professor Morenikeji brings nearly three decades of academic experience to the role.

She attained professorship in 2016 and holds a B.Sc., M.Sc., and PhD in Zoology from the University of Ibadan, with 28 years of cumulative university service.

Between 2023 and 2025, she served as the pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor of KolaDaisi University, and has previously held responsibilities as Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Head of the Department of Biological Sciences, and Chairperson of the Faculty Disciplinary Committee.

The Registrar noted: “With a strong publication profile and diverse leadership experience, she is bringing into this position both academic and administrative depth of knowledge.”

Professor Morenikeji has supervised seven doctoral candidates and authored over 100 journal articles alongside books and technical reports.

She is a member of the United States Government Exchange Alumni Association (USGEAA) Nigeria and the United States International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Alumni Association Nigeria.

Mr. Adetu added: “The Governing Council…congratulated the entire University community on this appointment and solicits the support of all staff during and after the transition period.”

The appointment takes effect from 3 August 2026, with the university community urged to rally behind the new Vice-Chancellor-Designate as the institution continues its drive toward becoming a world-class knowledge-led university.
