A Non-Governmental Organization, Oil Spill Victims Vanguard (OSPIVV), has vowed to sue the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL), Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and other International Oil Companies, over the discovered 4 kilometers crude oil pipeline in Delta State.
Stonix News recalled that the illegal 4 Kilometre crude oil pipeline located at Forcados Terminal was exposed by the Tantita Security Service ltd (TSSL), a company belonging to Niger Delta activist, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo better known as Tompolo.
Executive Director of OSPIVV, Prince Harrison Jalla, made the threat on Friday in Warri, Delta State, during a press conference organized to address the evils of oil theft on the environment and humans in the Niger Delta.
Prince Jalla said OSPIVV would hold the NNPC and SPDC accountable for the ongoing atrocities in the oil and gas sector.
He said the companies would have to explain to the courts and the Niger Delta people why they allowed the perpetration of such economic crime without hindrance.
According to Jalla, crude oil theft has been going on in the country since 2003 without unhindered before the recent onslaught against the economic saboteurs.
He added that the increasing water hyacinth in the Niger Delta water bodies is indicative of water pollution, maintaining “Water hyacinth feeds on the living in a polluted environment.”
In like manner, an Environmental Consultant and Environmental Law/Pollution Control Activist, Hossana Jalogho Williams, who while addressing journalists, said the Niger Delta was massively underdeveloped and NNPC should explain to the people why they didn’t uncover the environmental pollution caused by the economic saboteurs operating in the region.
He reiterated that stealing crude oil from pipelines and its spills are harbingers of cancer among inhabitants in the Niger Delta.
