Okpebholo’s Business-Friendly Environment Attracting Diaspora Investments — Dr. Idaomi

Rita Enemuru, Reporting

THE Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Bisi Idaomi, Esq., has said that the conducive business and investment environment created by the administration of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, through the implementation of the SHINE Agenda, is encouraging Edo indigenes in the diaspora to invest in the state’s development.

Dr. Idaomi made the remark during a pre-launch inspection visit to the Lebarty Medi-Care Hospital at Irhirhi, Benin City, ahead of its proposed inauguration slated for Friday, July 24, 2026.

The Commissioner, who was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Efosa Aisien, and other senior officials, inspected the level of work at the hospital and expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded.

She, however, observed that considering the volume of work still outstanding, the proposed launch date might not be feasible, stressing that quality must never be compromised for speed.

According to her, “Anything worth doing is worth doing well. It is better to deliver a hospital that meets the highest standards than to rush it for the sake of meeting a date.”

Dr. Idaomi commended the Edo-born medical doctor based in the United States who single-handedly funded the hospital project, describing the gesture as an exceptional demonstration of patriotism, compassion, and commitment to the welfare of the people.

She noted that the decision to return home and invest personal resources in providing quality healthcare for Edo people is a shining example of giving back to society and called on other well-meaning sons and daughters of the state to emulate the laudable initiative.

The Commissioner further disclosed that the hospital also operates the Lebarty  Community Health Foundation, a charitable organisation dedicated to providing healthcare and humanitarian support to vulnerable persons.

She explained that the Foundation’s objectives align with the mandate of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, which informed the Ministry’s decision to partner with the Foundation in delivering hope and essential services to the poor and vulnerable across Edo State.

Dr. Idaomi emphasized that the Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo-led administration, through the SHINE Agenda, remains committed to creating an enabling environment for investors and development partners, adding that collaborations between government and philanthropic organisations are crucial to expanding access to quality healthcare and improving the well-being of Edo people.

The inspection visit reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that projects intended to improve the lives of Edo citizens are completed to the highest standards before being commissioned for public use.
