ICAN Inducts 879 Accounting Technicians, Charges Integrity

THE Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has inducted 879 new members into the Accounting Technicians Scheme of West Africa (ATSWA), urging them to uphold integrity and professionalism as they begin their careers.

Speaking during the 64th ATSWA Induction Ceremony held at the ICAN Centre, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, on Thursday 9th July, 2026, the President and Chairman of Council of ICAN, Hajia Queensley Sofuratu Seghosime, described the induction as a significant milestone for the new members.

She encouraged the inductees to view the qualification as a stepping stone towards becoming Chartered Accountants and urged them to embrace emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and data analytics, while maintaining the ethical values of the profession.

Earlier, the Vice President of ICAN and Chairman of the ATSWA Executive Committee, Dr Etofolam Felix Osuji, congratulated the new Accounting Technicians and encouraged them to remain committed to integrity, accountability and continuous learning.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Governing Council, senior officials of the Institute and other distinguished guests.
