Two kids and three other persons cheated death in two separate accidents on Christmas Day in Sapele, Delta State, as residents called for caution.
Stonix News gathered that three persons were involved in an accident at Adeola Road by New Ogorode Road Junction when a vehicle ran into a tricycle.
The driver of the tricycle and his two passengers were seriously injured and taken to the Central Hospital, Sapele for treatment.
An eyewitness account had it that the tricycle was about moving towards Adeola Road when a Toyota Camry vehicle came all of a sudden and rammed the tricycle.
When interviewed, the driver of the tricycle, Mr Daniel Ojitobore, said he was thankful to God that his life was spared as he never planned to spend Christmas in the hospital.
In another incident, a Venza car lost control in an intra-city route at Obire Road and ran into a residential building.
It was the pillars in front of the house that stopped the car from crushing two kids that were enjoying Christmas rice in the building.
The impact of the accident brought down the walls of the house by the window and the main entrance door.
Mr. Fejiro Ogbakpah, a resident of the building said what happened had taught him that it was only God that can save.
“How can you explain that two kids eating inside their own House on Christmas day were hit by a car?” he asked.
On his part, the driver of the car, Mr. Freeborn Nebradu said he was eating and drinking while driving and when he was about to negotiate a bend where the building was, he lost control, stepping on the brakes, the brakes failed him hence the accident. Nebradu was, however, thankful that no life was lost.
Some concerned residents cautioned motorists and all road users to avoid accidents this festive while calling on the Federal Road Safety corps (FRSC) and other relevant bodies to intensify the awareness creation on safe driving.
