Gbagi Was Strict Disciplinarian But Largely Misunderstood – Tompolo

Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

FORMER Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 general election in Delta State, Chief Kenneth Gbagi, was a strict disciplinarian, but largely misunderstood by a section of society.

Leading Niger Delta agitator, Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias, Tompolo, made the observation during a condolence visit to the country home of the deceased at Oginibo, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Tompolo expressed shock over the passing of the former Minister of State for Education, lawyer and criminologist.

The Ijaw leader, who was represented by his aide, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, said the passage of the business mogul was too sudden and untimely of a man who passionately desired the development of Delta State and Nigeria.

He said the deceased was a good man who always sought after the interest of others above his personal interest.

“He was strict and a disciplinarian, but was misunderstood by a section of the society.

“He came, saw, and left quietly. Indeed, God gave and it was God that allowed him to go and rest at this time. We will surely miss him,” he said.

Tompolo urged the family members to take solace as their patriarch was able to do his best for God and mankind before his departure.

One of the sons of the deceased, Egba Gbagi, in his remarks on behalf of the family members, expressed gratitude to Tompolo for the visit.

According to him, the family will inform Tompolo when the funeral programme is released.

Stonix News recalled that Chief Gbagi, an irrepressible entrepreneur, was one of the founding fathers of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) before his defection to the SDP in a bid to govern Delta State.

Chief Gbagi passed on May 4 in Lagos, Nigeria after a reported brief illness.
