THE Chief Imam of Lekki Central Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Ridwan Jamiu, has urged Muslims to reject any governorship candidate who opposes the establishment of Sharia courts in Southwest Nigeria.
Dr. Jamiu, during his Jumaat sermon last Friday, emphasized the importance of holding candidates accountable for their stance on Sharia courts.
He encouraged Muslims to carefully evaluate their political choices.
Sheikh Jamiu clarified that Sharia Courts cater exclusively to Muslims and do not involve non-Muslims, citing the example of northern states where Sharia Courts exist.
He called on Muslims to demand a formal pledge from politicians seeking their votes, stressing that the establishment of Sharia Courts in Yoruba states is long overdue.
“Oh Muslims, as elections approach, any candidate seeking your support for governorship must pledge to establish Sharia Courts.
“If they refuse to sign an agreement with the Muslim community, do not vote for them,” he declared.
