UFOR Hospital in Ughelli has, significantly, enhanced its medical capabilities following a substantial donation of state-of-the-art equipment from The Peter Claver Foundation and its UK partner, Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital.
The donation is part of a sustained initiative by the humanitarian foundation to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve access to quality medical services within Nigeria.
The consignment of equipment, officially commissioned in a recent handover ceremony, includes an infant incubator, examination and treatment couch, respirator, IV drip stands, and critical support items such as clinical lights, airway equipment, and tourniquet machines.
The donation is designed to modernise clinical operations and elevate the standard of patient care.
Mr Akpevwe Obakponovwe, Managing Director of Ufor Hospital Ltd., expressed profound gratitude for the intervention.
“We are profoundly grateful to The Peter Claver Foundation and Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital for this remarkable gesture,” he stated.
“These facilities will greatly enhance our capacity to deliver efficient and quality healthcare services to the people of Ughelli and beyond.”
He further emphasised that the new resources would have a transformative effect, particularly in the areas of maternal and child healthcare, emergency response, and overall patient management.
The Peter Claver Foundation, a globally recognised humanitarian organisation chaired by Mr Ogho Obakponovwe, is renowned for its medical outreach programmes.
The event was attended by community leaders and hospital management, who collectively praised the foundation’s ongoing contributions to the local health sector.
Community representatives described the donation as a “lifeline for rural healthcare,” underscoring the vital importance of international collaborations in bridging the gap in medical resources across the country.
