Adebanjo Challenges EFCC To Probe Former Govs Tinubu, Akande

Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

Chieftain of the apex Yoruba sociocultural organisation, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, has challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe former governors of Lagos and Osun states, Senator Bola Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande.

The 93-year-old leader of the Afenifere gave the directive to the anti-graft agency on Thursday at a press conference in his Lagos house while debunking the claim that Tinubu built for him his Lekki house as contained in Akande’s book, My Participation.

Adebanjo, who gave details of his landed properties including the one in contention, which he claimed has no contribution from Tinubu, also authorized the EFCC to verify his facts.

While calling of the EFCC to heed his call, the elder statesman said: “It is alleged that Chief Bisi Akande’s building at Ila-Orogun, which I understand is more than double in expanse of my house in Lekki and some other properties he has in Lagos and abroad were financed by Bola Tinubu.

“His house in Ibadan was also alleged to have been built by the contractor that built the secretariat in Oshogbo, when he was the Governor of Osun State.

“I hereby challenge Chief Bisi Akande to clear the air by disclosing the source of financing these properties as I have done above.

“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the great philanthropist, should also disclose the source of his wealth with which he bankrolled the elections of APC in the Southwest and that of General Muhammad Buhari and his various properties in Lagos.

“He should also authorize the EFCC to verify such details as I have done above.”

Meanwhile, Chief Adebanjo, at the Press Conference, denied ever enjoying such largesse of a palatial house from the APC chief, Senator Bola Tinubu before and after the latter’s tenures as governor of Lagos State.
