Outrage As Gunmen Kill Owo High Chief In Ondo

Gunmen have reportedly shot and killed the Elerewe of Owo Kingdom, High Chief Tunde Ilori in Owo, Ondo State.

Ilori was reportedly killed on Wednesday while returning from where he and other chiefs had gone to settle a dispute.

A yet-to-be-identified chief was also shot by the gunmen and is said to be currently receiving treatment at a health facility in the town.

Some aggrieved youths in the town on Wednesday evening staged a protest to register their grievance over the killing.

They blocked the road and burnt tyres at the First Bank area of Owo.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ondo State Police Command, DSP Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident to journalists.

She said the police were already investigating the incident in order to apprehend the killers.
