A middle-aged woman was on Wednesday clubbed and burnt to death after by an irate mob in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, for allegedly attempting to abduct a seven-year-old boy.
The suspect was apprehended along Abavo Street, Eherhen Road, with the boy hidden inside a sack.
Witnesses claimed she confessed during the beating that she hailed from Ughelli and had been sent on the mission by a pastor.

Unconfirmed reports also indicated she had earlier been seen with a Bible.
Residents noted that incidents of child abduction have become alarmingly frequent in Agbarho, forcing parents to remain extra vigilant while escorting their children to and from school.

A community leader, who preferred to remain anonymous, urged the Delta State Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to curb the rising menace of child theft in the area, describing it as a daily threat to families.
