THE National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved a major revision of the party’s internal electoral schedule, including a key extension to its digital membership registration.
Following its 183rd meeting in Abuja on Friday, 30 January 2026, the party announced that the ongoing electronic membership registration will now close on 8 February 2026, having been extended from the original 31 January deadline.
The move responds to calls from stakeholders seeking more time for supporters to sign up and verify their details.
In a significant calendar reset, the APC also confirmed new dates for its forthcoming congresses and national convention.
Ward Congresses will now be held on 18 February 2026, while the National Convention is scheduled for 27–28 March 2026.
Certain states will not take part in the upcoming congresses. Osun, Ekiti and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are exempt due to impending elections, while Rivers State is excluded because the tenure of its current party executive remains active.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, confirmed that a National Convention Planning Committee has been established, with further details on its membership and the full revised timetable to be released in due course.
The changes mark a strategic effort by the APC to widen its membership base and reorganise its leadership structure ahead of future political contests.
