Former Minister of Interior and immediate past Governor of Osun State, under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on Tuesday delivered a stinging critique of the ruling party, declaring that it has failed Nigerians in the economy, security, and other key sectors.
Aregbesola stated that the APC-led Federal Government had “clearly failed Nigerians”, describing the administration as a disappointment to ordinary citizens.
Speaking in Osogbo at the conclusion of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) federal constituency tours of Osogbo/Olorunda/Orolu and Irepodun, Aregbesola—who led mobilisation efforts across the nine federal constituencies in Osun State—urged Nigerians to reject the APC in the 2027 general elections.
“Those in government now have tried their best, but God is not with them because they did not start with God,” he said. “They are selfish. They began with the word ‘Emi’ instead of ‘Awa.’ They have been disgraced in all sectors, especially the economy, security, and governance.”
Aregbesola insisted that the APC’s “reign will come to an end in the next general election”, stressing that the party had failed woefully across all critical sectors.
“There is no sector where they have not failed. The economy is in dire straits, insecurity is ravaging the country, and governance has suffered serious setbacks,” he stated, positioning the ADC as the only credible alternative.
“Our party is ready to liberate the people and make life more abundant for the masses. If elected, we will correct all governance missteps and set Osun State and Nigeria on the path to people-oriented development.”
Reacting to Aregbesola’s remarks, the Osun State APC Director of Media, Kola Olabisi, queried, “At what point did APC fail?” He added, “He was governor for eight years and minister for four years through the benevolence of this same party he now claims has failed. He is, in essence, attacking himself.”
