GENERAL Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, says his church has taken over the responsibility of family members of the seven persons slain in his convoy.
Stonix News had reported that last Friday October 21st, 2022, gunmen attacked the convoy of the cleric in a clear assassination on his life.
In its wake, three police escorts, and four others were killed in cold blood which has drawn the ire of the entire globe.
Apostle Suleman, while ministering during the Sunday Service at Omega Fire Ministries headquarters in Auchi, Edo State, also raised a moment of silence to honour the slain victims and empathised with their families.
He further expressed shock that instead of mourning the dead, some people took to the social media to spread wrong narratives about the tragic incident.
He lamented that Christians are, unfortunately, ahead in spreading false rumours about him and his family, a pastime, he posited, is uncommon with the other religion before he met Christ.
According to the renown cleric, “Although my children in the Lord have cautioned me on talking about issues when they happen or when people bring up accusations or post lies about me, the truth is the more I ignore them, the more they are damaging the minds of people.
“I am talking now because people were killed and we are in pain, mourning their death along with their family members…
“The people killed are not just anybody. They are close to me. The driver has been with me for more than 17 years.
“Do you know how heavy my heart is? And sadly, some people are making comments about rituals and they expect God not to punish them?
“I won’t defend what I don’t know about. I expect these people to, at least, honour the dead.
“I was told about a post by a police officer, who alleged he supplies me with mobile policemen.
“The truth is I have never met such a person before and have never made any request for such.
“So many things have been said about me in this life. A young boy was doing videos at Rome claiming to know me very well.
“I am sure many of you in this church don’t know him. He was like a maid living in the house.
“He was not even living in the main house. He was not close to me, but gave such a wrong impression and sadly many believed him.”
Not done, the Auchi-based fiery preacher further justified his penchant for responding to false allegations against his person on the social media.
He said: “the reason I am speaking is that so many things have been allowed.
“Someone did a video that my late mother-in-law died of cancer. Sadly, there is nothing like that.
“How come my wife and I don’t have such a medical report about her, but the person has it?
“She died of the wrong prescription from an expired drug by a quack doctor, not cancer.
“How evil and cruel the world is! Imagine someone just died and you lied about his death attributing it to rituals.
“Their spirits won’t rest when such lies are put to them.
“And sadly, most of these spreaders of falsehoods are Christians.
“I was in the other religion before I became a Christian; they are not nasty like this.
“Many Christians are on their phones than reading the bible.”
He, however, disclosed that his present preoccupation is to see how the church will cater for the family members left behind by the slain victims.
“My priority now is how to take care of the families of the deceased.
“We will rise in a moment of silence to the departed souls. And the purpose is to say affliction shall not arise the second time. May their souls rest in peace.”
“The families of the bereaved have become the responsibility of the church,” he added.
