Balancing Life And Learning: My Journey Into Tech Success

LAST year was a busy one for me; I had quite a number of things on my plate. My schedule was tight.

Right in the midst of the hectic routines and numerous responsibilities, I came across an advertisement for a free training programme for ladies in tech.

The congratulatory message

Why not? Let’s check it out.

At the time, I felt a spark of interest in tech. So, I applied. I knew it would be demanding, considering the number of commitments I already had.

I registered for the free training organised by Ladies in Tech Africa (LITA). There were quite a number of options to choose from, ranging from Cyber Security to Product Management, Content Creation, Virtual Assistance, and many more.

I chose Virtual Assistance, while my sister opted for Cyber Security—our interests differ.

It was truly a demanding programme: two hours of intensive lectures three times a week, assignments almost every week, projects and tests every month, and finally, a comprehensive examination with different sections.

There were days I almost couldn’t meet the deadlines, but I pushed through.

The training lasted for about four months, and it was rigorous. I had to forgo sleep just to meet deadlines. Sometimes, I had to drop important responsibilities to make time for the training.

How about data for the classes? That was another challenge.

But then, I survived.

In fact, I didn’t just survive—I emerged as one of the top participants.
