Muhammed Abubakar, Reporting
It’s a black Easter Friday as a father, his two kids and two others including a woman traveling for her mother’s burial, reportedly lost their lives after ramming a stationary truck along Abuja – Keffi road on Friday.
The driver, identified as Ezekiel Atebi Mosugu, was returning in his private car from Jos, the Plateau State capital, when he rammed the truck just few kilometres to Abuja his destination.
On board his car from Jos, witnesses said, were two of his children, and two others, including a woman who was accompanying them to alight in Abuja and continue her journey to Ogori, in Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Mosugu was said to have travelled to Jos where his medical doctor wife works to bring his family to Abuja for the Easter break.
His wife was reportedly unable to follow her husband due to her duty schedules, but promised to join them in Abuja before the Easter break is over.
To make her journey light, she decided to allow her husband take the two kids to Abuja while she prepared to join them at the weekend.
Sources said the woman was actually going to Ogori for the burial of her father who passed two weeks ago, but decided to follow Mosugu on a ride to Abuja for onward and easier movement to Ogori.
However, the smooth journey that started from Jos was cut short at Keffi, near Abuja when they rammed the stationary truck leading to their death on the spot.
The accident vehicle sighted by Stonix News, which plate number is no longer attached due to the impact of the crash, was mangled beyond recognition, indicative of the fact that the driver was probably at top speed.
Mr Atebi Mosugu, a native of Ogori and alumnus of Community Comprehensive High School Ogori (CCHSO), was an uncle to Barrister
Tibileri Mosugu, who was killed in the ill-fated Kaduna-bound train bombed by terrorists on Monday, March 29.
In fact, the deceased, Atebi Mosugu, was said to be at the funeral of his nephew in Abuja last week Wednesday with other family members.
Meanwhile, the news of Friday tragedy has thrown the entire family of Mosugu and homogeneous Ogori into another round of mourning at a time the world is commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Though no official statement has emerged from the FRSC Command in Abuja, close associates and colleagues of Mr Atebi Mosugu, have expressed grief at the untimely demise of the deceased, his two kids and the two others.
Mr Sunday Alao, who first broke the news on the CCHSO WhatsApp loop on Friday evening, prayed for the repose of souls of the deceased.
Another close associate Pastor Flourish Atoju, who’s the founding pastor of Spring of Grace Assembly, Abuja, simply wondered how true the story could be.
“What is this? I was with Atebi last week when we were burying his cousin. What do you mean please?
“Not even the death of my brother Olubo has touched me and made tears to drop from my eyes. This is a terribly bad news. Death has no single shame.
“I can’t see myself writing rest in peace on Atebi. How can I?” Pastor Atoju, who said they met at Tibile Mosugu’s burial, lamented.
