BREAKING: Ailing Fiery Labour Leader, Chief Frank Kokori, Passes

ELDER statesman and former General Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Chief Frank Kokori, has passed.

Stonix News reliably gathered that he passed at exactly 1:30a.m on Thursday, December 7, 2023, coincidentally his birthday.

Disclosing his passage to our correspondent at about 2:16a.m on Thursday, the deceased’s personal assistant, Atawada Barry Oke, said he had been on a life support since Monday.

He said the former fiery labour leader, who could still communicate though faintly last Sunday, relapsed on Monday as he was placed on the life-support machine.

According to him, the APC chieftain eventually caved in and was confirmed dead by the doctor at exactly 1:30a.m, “as if he deliberately waited for his birthday at 80 to say goodbye to us ”

The Octogenarian, who clocked exactly 80 today, has been on sick bed at Mount Horeb Clinic, Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State over kidney-related medical challenges since late October.

Kokori had, on Thursday November 9, 2023, made a distress call at about 12:40a.m to complain that life was ebbing out of him where he’s receiving treatment for his kidney-related ailment.

Kokori, who’s a close and respected ally of the civil society across the globe, had described himself in a voice laden with excruciating pains that he’s “dead and risen.”

He had lamented how NUPENG and the nation had abandoned him to fate in the hospital which air conditioner was switched off by the hospital management possibly owing to a shortage of diesel.

The Ovu-born fiery labour leader had complained over the idea of being abandoned in the hospital in Warri by those who should cater for his wellbeing.

His Thursday 9th outcry had attracted dignitaries such as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State who swiftly visited the elder statesman on Friday November 10 on his sick bed and picked up the bills including those of two other patients.

Oborevwori had expressed his apolitical stance on issues concerning Deltans home and abroad, saying his regime was for all irrespective of political leanings.

The likes of Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Chief Ede Dafinone and some representatives of former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, had visited the ailing Octogenarian after his outcry in November..

As of the time of filing the report, the remains of the former labour leader is still in the hospital awaiting close family members who had been intimated of his demise.
