Speaking with pride, the elder Adeleke disclosed that despite offers of financial support from family members, the Afrobeats icon declined and footed the entire bill from his own pocket.
“David didn’t allow us contribute a dime to his wedding. He did everything from his pocket. His uncle and I were ready to sponsor and we were excited, given the calibre of invitees, but he declined our support and did everything himself financially and smoothly,” he said.
According to the proud father, Davido’s decision reflects not just independence but also the resilience that has defined his journey to global stardom.
“I was also happy with the network that he has built for himself and the success story behind him. Very few kids from rich homes struggle to make it on their own. Despite our advantages, this boy took life from zero to a hero. I celebrate him every day. That’s my last son but the highest known and celebrated. I wish him nothing but the best,” Adeleke added.
Davido’s fans have since flooded the internet with praise for the singer’s self-reliance, describing him as a rare example of talent and grit thriving beyond privilege.
The musician, who has consistently dominated charts worldwide, seems to have given his father yet another reason to call him “a hero.”
