“As you celebrate your 46th year on earth today, we are happy to say that you have made us proud and we are proud to have you as our brother and a member of the Sodje family,” the statement read.
Samuel Sodje, known affectionately as “Super Sam” by his fans, rose to prominence through a remarkable footballing career that included stints in the prestigious English Premier League.

“You successfully exhibited the highest degree of professionalism and respect for constituted authority, thus allowing you to get to the pinnacle of your profession,” the family noted.
The Sodjes lauded Samuel’s contributions beyond the pitch, particularly his recent involvement in international sports administration and his advocacy for athlete welfare.
