GOVERNOR Godwin Obaseki’s anointed candidate, Asue Ighodalo, has been declared winner of the PDP primary for the September Governorship Election.
He polled 577 votes to defeat six other aspirants in the Thursday primary. held at the lawn tennis court of the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium
Delegates from the national and state headquarters of INEC, led by Abubakar Hadiza and state INEC REC, Dr Anugbom Onuoha, monitored the exercise.
The result of the primary was declared on behalf of the national working committee of the PDP by the Chief Returning Officer for the primary who is also the governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal.
He was flanked by the co-chairman and Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori and secretary of the panel Sen. James Manager.
Edo State Deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, scored one vote, while Osaro Onaiwu and Ambassador Martins Uhomoihbi scored zero each.
A former member, who represented Ovia Federal Constituency, Barr. Omosede Igbinedion, stepped aside to support Asue Ighodalo while a former member, who represented Oredo Federal Constituency, withdrew from the contest.

Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, who witnessed the primary alongside his wife Betsy, scored the process high.
585 Accredited delegates from the eighteen local government areas participated in the exercise witnessed by a former Governor Chief Lucky Nosakhare former Deputy Governor Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, former Senators Odion Ugbesia,Francis Alimikhena and other national and state leaders of the PDP.
