Jacob Abai, Publisher of GbaramatuVoice
According to a statement signed by him, his vehicle was engulfed by fire along Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Expressway, Warri, Delta State, at about 3:00p.m on that day.
In the statement made available to Stonix News on January 3, 2023 the Editor appreciated families and friends who reached out to him after the unfortunate incident and reiterated that he is safe and alive.
The details of the incident and cause of the fire were, however, not made known in the statement.
The statement reads: “I, Jacob Abai, the publisher and Editor-In-Chief of GbaramatuVoice Newspaper, writes to sincerely appreciate relations, revered traditional rulers, religious leaders, friends, professional colleagues, who reached out to me following the unfortunate fire incident that engulfed and burnt without rescue/save, my vehicle on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at about 3:05pm, along Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Expressway, Warri, Delta state, Nigeria.
“While the incident, and the pains arising from it is deepened by the fact that the remote cause of the inferno remains both sketchy and hazy, I must however, use this opportunity to announce that I am alive, hale and hearty.
“I escaped death not by my power but by the prompting of God Almighty who made heaven and earth. This particular fact is evident enough for me to give all glory to God. He has again proved to be God. May his name be praised and exalted both now and forever, amen.
“In a related development, I must again affirm to my well wishers and teaming followers/readers of GbaramatuVoice Newspaper that the firestorm will not in any way, affect or dampen the newspaper’s resolve to promoting an egalitarian society where peace, justice, equity, good and accountable governance shall reign supreme through the newspaper’s daily commentaries and objective analysis of political and socioeconomic developments within the Niger Delta states and the nation as a whole.
“It is on this note that I appreciate all for your long standing relationship with me and the organization that I represent, while encouraging us all to redouble our quest for a new order particularly as the nation braces up for the all important 2023 general election.”
