Husband Loses Left Eye To Suspected Marauding Herdsmen

Rita Enemuru, Reporting

A resident of Otokutu community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, Saturday Kesiena Ikoro, has lost his left eye to a fierce gun attack by suspected marauding herdsmen in the area.

Stonix News gathered that Mr Ikoro was shot at along with his wife, Judith, by the suspected herdsmen along Jeddo Road, Otokutu about 7.00 pm on Sunday 2nd October, 2022.

A source in the know disclosed that the couple were returning from a domestic cooking gas shop when they were waylaid by the suspected herdsmen.

Mr Ikoro, who had sensed danger, attempted to escape, but his car was riddled with pellets by the suspected herdsmen.

While he escaped most of the pellets, he was, however, not too lucky as he lost his left eye to the trigger-happy marauders, the source added.

In the melee that ensued, Ikoro’s wife, Judith, the source added, was able to miraculously escape the onslaught of the herdsmen, unhurt.

The suspected herdsmen were said to have vanished into the woods after the dastardly attack.

Meanwhile, the badly-injured Ikoro was said to have been immediately rushed to a private hospital in Warri where he was refered to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin City, for a better medical attention owing to the severity of the injury sustained.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Delta State Police, DSP Bright Edafe, hasn’t responded to confirm the incident as of the time of filing the report.
