INEC Presents Certificate of Return To Adeleke

Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

Senator Ademola Adeleke, Osun State governor-elect of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The certificate was presented to him in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Wednesday.

Adeleke, popularly called the ‘dancing senator, was announced the winner of the election on Sunday following the Saturday governorship election.

He emerged the winner of the Osun governorship election with 403,371 votes.

Adeleke polled the highest vote to beat his major contender, incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola who polled 375,027, and Action Democratic Party (ADP) Kehinde Atanda as the second runner-up.

Stonix News reports that hip hop star, David Adeleke famously known as Davido, had raised the alarm over INEC’s seeming delay in presenting the certificate of return to Senator Adeleke, who’s his uncle.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, is said to have hired no fewer than 50 lawyers, including senior advocates, to challenge the victory of Ademola Adeleke, in last Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

This hint of action was given on Tuesday, by a member of the governor’s legal team, Kunle Adegoke.

In an interview with Punch, Adegoke revealed that the results declared by INEC was undergoing review.

He said, “We are still reviewing documents and the legal team is actually working. In an election of this nature, the documents will be so many; so it is important to look at them critically before we make a decision and that is exactly what we are working on right now.

“Dr Biodun Layonu (SAN), is the leader of the team. The legal team is not complete yet because there are so many others that will still come in.”
