(JUST IN): Ooni Of Ife Orders Lockdown From 11:00 p.m to 5:00a.m In Ife

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Saturday, announced a lockdown of Ife township from 11:00p.m to 5:00a.m over the spate of robbery incidence.

Oba Ogunwusi made the announcement through the Lowa Adimula of Ile-Ife, Abraham Adekola in a statement.

He said “the restrictions order was arrived at after the kingmakers with other chiefs held a meeting today and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi who was not around endorsed the order.

“The Imperial Majesty, Oba Ogunwusi has ordered lockdown from 11 pm to 5am in Ife township from today.

“No vigil, night party, night prayers in all churches and mosques, etc.

“This is because the activities of robbers in Ile-Ife are on high which is causing sleepless nights among the residents.

“The police with the local securities are now in the community to ensure security.

“Anyone caught in within these hours will be treated as such. The restriction is till further notice.”

Meanwhile, Stonix News gathered that some unscrupulous youths have already begun to harrass some newspapers outfit vehicles in Ife metropolis.

A driver of a major newspaper outfit based in Ibadan (name withheld) told Stonix News that he was waylaid and extorted by some weapon-wielding youths as of morning of last Wednesday January 26 when he was at Ife to discharge his consignment.

“Some very young boys, who said they were vigilantes, after discharging my consignment in Ife and was enroute Ondo stopped me and began to harrass me.

“They were armed with dangerous weapons and many. They formed about nine road locks from Ife to Ondo.

“They delayed me, destroyed some things in my vehicle and also collected about N4,000 from me before I was allowed to continue my journey,” he lamented.
