Gunmen have, on Thursday night, allegedly invaded Zuba, a town under Gwgwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). shooting sporadically in the process.
Stonix News reports that Zuba borders Niger State and the FCT, worsening the insecurity situation of the country.
A resident of Zuba confirmed that gunshots were heard in the town and friends and family were making calls to their loved ones to hurry home and to inquire about their safety.
Residents of Zuba had earlier posted on social media platforms warning about the gunshots heard in Zuba, advising people headed toward the direction to turn back.
“Please, for those coming to Abuja or going out, please suspend your movement, right now bandits attack the army checking point at Zuma rock in Abuja, heavy traffic right now, please disseminate the information to save lives,” the viral message read.
As of the time of filing this report, the resident said they were yet to know the severity of the attack, whether it claimed casualties or injured people.
Efforts to reach the FCT Police Command for clarification were unsuccessful.
Recall, however, that terrorists had issued a threat to abduct President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, National Assembly members and other prominent political Office holders in Abuja.
