Kogi Poly, FUL Partner To Launch Degree Programmes

KOGI State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) to commence undergraduate degree programmes at the Polytechnic.

The landmark agreement, sealed on Friday, 22 August 2025, at the Senate Building of FUL, provides for the establishment of a Study Centre at the Polytechnic’s Main Campus in Lokoja for regular undergraduate and Top-Up programmes.

The regular degree programmes will enable prospective applicants to gain admission through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry, while the Top-Up option will allow holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates to convert their qualifications into corresponding undergraduate degrees.

These Top-Up programmes will be available on both full-time and part-time bases.

The MoU further provides for staff and student exchange, equipment sharing for practicals, joint research and other collaborative learning initiatives.

An elated Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, described the pact as “historic in all ramifications,” emphasising that it would stand out as a legacy of his administration and that of FUL’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwunmi.

“Kogi State Polytechnic is well equipped with quality manpower, robust infrastructure and a secure learning environment to support this collaboration.

“All our academic programmes are fully accredited, and we are committed to enriching this partnership through total compliance with the terms of the agreement,” he stated.

Professor Akinwunmi, in his remarks, hailed the partnership as a dream fulfilled, attributing its success to strong leadership and cordial relations between both institutions.

He stressed that the collaboration would significantly advance education in Kogi State and Nigeria at large, urging swift implementation.
