A man has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 14-year-old daughter.
It was gathered that the incident happened on September, 2024 at No. 23 Ayelabowo Street, Alhaji Ede, Igando, Lagos, where they reside.
It was alleged that the 65-year-old man, Bashiru Adeleke, lured the victim to his apartment where he defiled her.
Adeleke was found culpable after due investigations and rounds of interrogation by law enforcement agents. He was then charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for defilement under the Criminal Laws of the State.

The charge, made available to Stonix News, reads:
COUNT I: “That you, Bashiru Adeleke ‘M’, sometimes in September, 2024 at about unknown time at No. 23 Ayelabowo Street Alhaji Ede, Igando, Lagos State in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile the victim, 14 years old and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II: “That you, Bashiru Adeleke ‘M’, on the same date, time and place at the aforementioned Magisterial District, did sexually assault the victim 14 years old and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
According to our source, the court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, asking the court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A Owolabi, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.
